    It would be great to be able to right-click on a song or selected songs in the current playlist (default PL?) and be allowed to add the selection to any named playlist (eg. the right-click menu has a submenu "Add to playlist" that contains the names of all playlists).

Adding a new submenu seems a bit awkward. But, I've made it so you can copy some entries with control-C, cycle through the playlists with tab or shift-tab, and then paste those entries with control-V.
